Echelons : How to create your Role Play Character

 

Prior to playing D&D role playing game in Echelon Server, you need to create a character. This task can be daunting for new players. 

There are myriads of choices if you dive into World of D&D. But Echelon RPG server is restricted for simplicity and ease of gameplay.

And the progression path and skills of the classes are fixed too for simplicity.

Below you will find the step by step process:

Step - 1 : Get your character sheets template

• It's recommended to use DnD Beyond online tool to create character. You don't have to calculate modifier and skill proficiencies in this method. The character can be  imported in discord, it has mobile app which can be very handy to manage campaign. Check the following video for help.

• Fillable PDF Sheet can also be used.
• Google Sheet from Avrae bot is also an handy tool
• If you are confused and can't fill up the sheet, fill up the character info google doc and submit. A staff will help you to create character stats google doc . Later when you get familiar with the stats and rolls, fill up the PDF sheet and submit.

Step - 2 : Choose a race

• You can choose one of the 4 races mentioned below
1. Human
2. Elf
3. Dwarf
4. Halfling
• Each race has racial traits that affect your ability scores . Say, Humans will have +1 to all ability scores .

Step - 3 : Choose a class

• You can choose one of the 5 classes mentioned below . Click on the link for details.
1. Fighter
2. Rogue
3. Paladin
4. Warlock
5. Ranger 

Step - 4 : Assign Ability Scores

• There are 6 Abilities :
1. Strength (STR) : Natural Athleticism, Bodily Power 
2. Dexterity (DEX) : Physical Agility, Reflexes, Balance, Poise
3. Constitution (CON) : Health, Stamina, Vitality 
4. Intelligence (INT) : Mental Acquity, Information Recall, Analytical Skill
5. Wisdom (WIS) : Awareness, Intuition, Insight.
6. Charisma (CHA) : Confidence, Eloquence, Leadership
• You will get 6 random scores . For this, type ,,randchar in the Bot Commands Channel and take a screenshot of the roll . You have to assign the scores to your abilities.
• Carefully assign the scores according to your class. Say for Fighter Class, Highest Score should be Strength.

Step - 5 : Create Your Background and Fill Up the Detailed Character Information Sheet.

• Describe your character with name, sex, appearance, 2 personality traits, one ideal, bond and flaw, background and avatar. You can choose traits, ideal, bond and flaw from the following links:

Step - 6 : Create a ticket in Submit Character channel 

• A personal channel for you will be created
• Post your link to the filled up character sheet and the screenshot of the ability score roll you did with discord bot.
• A staff will attend to you as soon as possible.
• Your Character Stats will be adjusted according to your character info if needed .
• And a character with Role Play bot will be created too. It's for XP tracking and economy.

Step - 7 : Read the Basic Rules of D&D

• If you have no idea about how D&D works, it will be tough to play both for you, your party and the dungeon master . You should know about the basic rules .
• Though the game play is simple in the Echelon server, if you want to play with the great D&D communities out there, you have to know a lot. "Player's Handbook" is the bible for any D&D player. There are many scanned copy in internet if you are interested.
